Pre-K Program

Ages 4 - 5 yrs. old.

I Can Preschool and Child Care believes in school readiness and effective early education. To promote tailored learning experiences, we use an environment that is centered around child interest and School Readiness.

The innovative early learning activities are student directed and facilitated by early childhood educators. Our curriculum is guided by developmentally appropriate practices (DAP), and the Preschool Learning Foundations and Framework created by the California Department of Education.

Early Writing Concepts

Throughout the academic year children will be encouraged daily to write and recognize the following.

  • First name and Last Name

  • All Uppercase Letters

  • All Lowercase Letters

  • Numbers 1 – 20

  • Cut and Paste Exercises, and Sentence Creations

Early Math Concepts

  • Write, identify, and count numbers 1 – 30 without educator assistance.

  • Reason with simple addition and subtraction equations with numbers one – ten.

  • Patterns, number sequencing, counting, and sorting.

Early Literacy and Language Support

  • Recognition of uppercase Letters A – Z and their sounds

  • Recognition of lowercase Letters A- Z and their sounds

  • Letter names, letter sounds, vowels and their sounds, exposure to high frequency words, descriptive words, and rhyming.

Phonological Awareness

  • Refers to the ability to identify, compare, and manipulate the smallest units of spoken words.

  • Phoneme isolation beginning, phoneme isolation ending, phoneme blending, and phoneme segmentation.
